Q. What is the relationship of SPA and SPA Alumni
A. SPA Alumni is an AUTONOMOUS body, registered under the Societies Act. It has been recognized by SPA, New Delhi as its official Alumni Association. The Director of SPA, New Delhi is the Patron of SPA Alumni. The School provides physical and infrastructural support to SPA Alumni.
Q. How much money does SPA give SPA Alumni per year?
A. SPA Alumni does not receive any grant or funds from SPA, New Delhi. SPA Alumni has been operating solely on the money received as membership fees from its members.
Q. I had paid Student Association fees to the School. Why am I not a member?
A. The Student Association and SPA Alumni are different organisations. There is no co-relation between the two.
Q. As I student, I paid SPA Alumni fees to the School. So is SPA Alumni an organization of SPA?
A. The School has been graciously collecting fees on behalf of SPA Alumni for several years. However, this does not in any way effect the autonomous nature of either organization.
Q. I had paid Alumni fees as part of my fees to the School. Why am I not a member of SPA Alumni?
A. Following are the possible reasons for this:
We have been requesting students to fill up the Membership forms at the time of completing their course. The forms are available with Head of Departments.
Q. What do I get by becoming a member?
A. Like all societies and voluntary orgnisations, SPA Alumni is composed, run and given direction by its members. The aims and objectives are to foster a sense of community, and support and enable each other and the current students, the School, and the profession at large. However, this can only happen when ALL of us contribute and play a proactive role in the functioning of this society.
Q. I am a member of SPA Alumni. Why do I need to pay for the Get-together?
A. The official meetings such as GBM/AGM are usually followed by refreshments or simple lunch or dinner hosted by SPA Alumni. However, SPA Alumni also likes to organize re-union get-togethers for its members on an elaborate scale, where expenses are higher, and it would not be sustainable to dip into the Alumni funds for this. Therefore, members have to pay a contribution for these get-togethers.
Q. How does one decide who is runs SPA Alumni?
A. The rules and regulations of SPA Alumni along with the Memorandum of Association govern the functioning of this Society. The process for election of the Executive Committee and Office bearers is defined therein.
Q. I am an Architect, but not from the SPA. Can I join?

- You might have paid part of the fees not the complete fees.
The fees of SPA Alumni is Rs. 2500 for life membership. Please check if your name is in the list of Alumni who have paid part fees (available on the Blog Archive link of the website), and you can pay the balance and apply for membership. - You might have paid the fees, but not filled a form.
It would help immensely if you could email us your filled in form, along with details of payment (if available), so that we can take it up with the School. On receipt of membership application forms from our alumni, we request the School to transfer their membership fees to SPA Alumni. On receipt of the said fees from the School membership is granted to our alumni.
